QUEEN CITY FOOTBALL FOUNDATION (QCFF)
HELPING LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES GET FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR COLLEGE

The Queen City Football Foundation (QCFF) based in Cumberland, MD is an approved 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization that provides high school football athletes in the Potomac Highlands Area (Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia) the necessary tools, direction and finances to obtain collegiate scholarship money so as to further their education through the sport of football. The QCFF stresses the importance of academics by providing guidance in preparing for the college classroom and college entrance exams. The QCFF is also responsible for hosting the Queen City Quad, an annual four-team preseason high school football game that raises funds to support local charities.

Founder and President Todd Helmick, a 1985 Fort Hill graduate, started the QCFF in 2009 and put the first full scale model in place at Fort Hill High School in 2011. That season, multiple Fort Hill football athletes received academic assistance/scholarships totaling $842,000, with all money coming directly from colleges eager to receive the level of football talent Western Maryland always delivers.

The Fort Hill model put into place has so far included: getting a computer for the athletic office, and then installing video editing software and training the athletes to use the software for creating their own highlight video packages. These video packages ultimately get passed on to college coaches making QCFF’s efforts key for connecting the coaches/schools in need of quality players with QCFF’s ample supply of the local best. The model also includes instruction for each athlete and his guardian/parents on how the recruiting process works, assistance in making contact with college coaches, getting the athletes to summer camps and combines, securing visits to campus, posting their athletic resumes online and making sure academic/testing standards are met.

In 2012 the QCFF expanded to assist student-athletes at other schools in the surrounding area including Allegany, Bishop Walsh, Hampshire, Keyser and Moorefield with plans to continue moving into the other schools in 2013. This process can be seen at our main recruiting link. To continue this growing phase computers, software and instructors will need to be financed for each school.

Planned future activities include bringing a summer combine to Greenway Avenue Stadium, giving local student-athletes a chance to work out and show their wares in front of selected college coaches while learning how to train for summer college camps.

The QCFF believes that no family should have to pay money to help get their child athletic financial assistance for college. But we cannot do what we do without some small help from the community.

The Queen City Quad four-team high school scrimmage is a function of the QCFF. Your support also helps to keep this football classic at Greenway Avenue Stadium, now and in the future. Join us after the Quad at the home side concession area as we provide food for more than 400 visiting athletes and coaches.
