TOP 25 - by Ricky Sixx

1. MIAMI FL (9-0) - Canes leave little doubt they can play like the #1 team when so desired.

2. OHIO STATE (11-0) - Winning ugly is always better than losing.

3. WASHINGTON STATE (9-1) - The Cougars are running away with arguably the nation's toughest conference.

4. OKLAHOMA (8-1) - Torrance Marshall was not there to save the Sooners from a defeat at Kyle Field this time.

5. IOWA (10-1) - A trip to Pasadena looks very likely now that Ohio State is in the drivers seat for a Fiesta Bowl birth.

6. TEXAS (9-1) - Longhorns still need and impressive quality-win if they desire to seperate themselves from the pack.

7. GEORGIA (9-1) - Bulldogs continue to fight injuries as they attempt to hang on to a thin SEC East lead.

8. Alabama (8-2) - The Tide faces the Bayou Bengals before the much anticipated Iron Bowl versus Auburn.

9. KANSAS STATE (8-2) - Where were these Wildcats when the Longhorns and the Buffaloes were on the schedule? Nevertheless, 58-7 was awfully impressive against a good Iowa State team.

10. USC (7-2) - The Trojans continue to roll with two more conference games remaining before their big show down against Notre Dame.

11. NOTRE DAME (9-1) - For the second consecutive week, a poor performance forces the Irish to come from behind…this time against lowly Navy.

12. MICHIGAN (8-2) - The Wolverines took care of the Golden Gophers to match last season's win total. The Badgers and Buckeyes are still left on the schedule.

13. VIRGINIA TECH (8-2) - The Hokies have now lost two games in a row and will try to avoid making it three against a much improved Mountaineer team.

14. LSU (7-2) - It's going to take more than a "miracle-Hail-Mary" if the Tigers expect to get by Alabama.

15. PENN STATE (7-3) - After defeating an improved Virginia team, the Lions are on track to pick up their first 9+ win regular season since 1999.

16. PITTSBURGH (8-2) - The Panthers take their undefeated conference record into Miami hoping to do the unthinkable…win the Big East outright!

17. FLORIDA (7-3) - Can this team be anymore schizophrenic? One week they are knocking off Top 5 Georgia and the next week they are struggling vs. Vanderbilt.

18. FLORIDA STATE (7-3) - Adrian McPherson wasn't pretty, but effective enough vs. a good Georgia Tech defense. Beat North Carolina and the Noles are ACC Champions.

19. MARYLAND (8-2) - With their 7th straight win coming against North Carolina State, this team has people "fearing the turtle."

20. COLORADO STATE (8-2) - There has not been a more consistent team in the Mountain West. A 10-win regular season looks very likely.

21. COLORADO (7-3) - The Buffs struggled vs. Missouri, but still hold a commanding lead in the Big 12 North. A win against Iowa State or Nebraska would ensure a likely rematch against Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game.

22. OREGON (7-3) - The Ducks suffered their third loss in four games, but could bounce back nicely against a struggling Washington Husky team.

23. NORTH CAROLINA STATE (9-2) - After a second straight loss, the Wolfpack have played their way out of the ACC conference championship.

24. AUBURN (7-3) - The Tigers will have their hands full with Georgia while keeping an eye on the Alabama/LSU game.

25. TCU (8-1) - The Horned Frogs are winners of eight in a row and in a position to have a very impressive 10+ win season.

Just outside: Bowling Green, Arizona State, West Virginia, Boise State, Arkansas
