This franchise is credited with both of the WFL's championships - the Americans won "World Bowl I" against Florida at the end of the 1974 season, and when the league folded in 1975, were named league champions by virtue of having the best record at the time.

CHICAGO WINDS

1975 (first 4 games?) 1975 (game 5 only?)

This team lasted for only five games in 1975. Apparently two helmet designs were used by the team - initially the one shown above, and later (perhaps only during the team's last game, August 30 at Memphis) one with a different logo, a white "W" in front of a green oval- or football-shape. Below is the clearest photograph I have received showing the actual helmet design from the Memphis game - while this photograph is of very low quality it does reveal that a different logo was in use during this game. The Chicago helmet is the one just to the right of the center of the photograph.
