USFL managed to outperform two recent similar leagues (Alliance of American Football 2019 and XFL 2020) by completing its first season. The Birmingham Stallions defeated the Philadelphia Stars in the 2022 championship game.

The league has announced a new team for 2023, the Memphis Showboats, who will replace the Tampa Bay Bandits. The Bandits are said to be 'on hiatus' in 2023.

The Pittsburgh Maulers have announced a new helmet design for 2023 (shown above).

The new season is scheduled to begin on April 15, with four cities hosting the league's games in 2023 - Birmingham, Memphis, Detroit, and Canton, OH.
