Two other historical designs for this team are visible in the photographs below:
The first features a logo that is apparently very similar to the one used by the team in 2006. The helmets are apparently black but the color of the oval shape and the letters within it are unclear (the oval appears to be white rather than orange). The second photo shows the 1986 helmets, which again apparently had a black shell. There is an unusual logo (which I believe is "LC") above some sort of stripe that runs around the back of the helmet. Clearer photos would be appreciated.
*1 It has been reported to me that this design was probably first used in 1988, which was Tom Smythe's first year as Head Coach at Lewis & Clark.

A newspaper article that was sent to me several years ago listed several facts about historical helmet designs used by Linfield:
The article did not mention whether stripes were ever used on the helmet, but it was sufficiently detailed that I would suspect mention would have been made if Linfield had ever used stripes. Apparently then, this is a complete set of historical helmet images for Linfield for the period covered by this web site (1960 to present), though, as with most teams, it is likely that, periodically, there were some minor, unintentional variations to the sizes and colors of the helmet decals, as new batches of them were ordered periodically, possibly from different manufacturers.

This is thought to be the complete set of historical helmet designs (back to 1960) for Pacific with the exception of the 1966 design, which you may see in the photograph below. The 1966 helmets were black with a "badger head" logo on the sides ("Badgers" was the team nickname through 1967). I would appreciate a clearer photograph, especially one in color. I would guess that the badger head was red and white in color.
Pacific did not have a football team from 1992 through 2009.
*1 Each of these designs, and the 1966 helmet, featured large white uniform numerals at the back of the helmet (not visible from the "vantage point" used at this website).

In 1969 Pacific Lutheran used black helmets with the "100" logo on the sides recognizing the centennial of the first college football game; below is the clearest photograph I have received of this design. I suspect that the football shape was blue and the numerals white with red outlines.
*1 It has been reported that, from 1976 through 1981, PLU used gray, white, and black facemasks simultaneously with this design, with none of those colors being clearly dominant. Beginning in 1982 white facemasks were used by everyone.
*2 A switch to this design was made during the 1994 season (exact game unknown).

I have received partial information about three earlier helmet designs used by this team. From 1974 until 1980 the team used black helmets with white/red/white stripes and with no logos on the sides (facemask color was not specified). During at least the years 1981 through 1984 the same design was used but with the addition of a logo consisting of the word "Bucs" in cursive, the letters being red with white outlines. The 1997 helmet also featured a black shell and red facemask, with a logo similar to the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo. I would appreciate photographs of these designs and information about any other old Whitworth helmets (back to 1960).
|1993 - 1997?||? - 2001?||2002?|
|2003? - 2011||2012 -|
The dates listed here are extremely uncertain; I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can clarify when each design was used. In 1992 the team was using helmets similar in color to those shown above but with a "paw print" logo (terrible photo below). I have not received any other information about older Willamette helmets.
