Central State's football team was restored in 2005 after a nine-year absence. Apparently from 2006 through 2008, the team used the helmet logo visible in the photograph below - I would appreciate a copy of this helmet logo.

The 1991-1992 Indianapolis helmet has been described as featuring a logo depicting a "rat-like dog with a tarp on its back".

*1 The school's name was Indiana Central University until 1986 (hence the "IC" logo on this helmet).

This team first played in 1983, so a complete helmet design history could probably be ascertained quite easily by someone at the college with access to reference materials (yearbooks, game programs, etc.). I have not received any information about pre-1996 helmet designs for KWC.

McKENDREE


1996 - present

McKendree did not have a football team from 1951 through 1995. The team was restored in 1996 and has used plain gold helmets with purple facemasks each year since.

Earlier helmets have been described as follows:

1962-1964: black helmets with gold stripe;

1965: gold helmets with black stripe and "UMR" logo in "Arial" font;

1967-1969: gold helmets with white/black/white stripe sequence;

1970: gold helmets with black/white/black stripe sequence;

1971-1973: white helmets with gray facemasks, black/gold/black stripe sequence, and logo depicting a cartoon miner named "Joe";

1980-1989: gold helmets with black/white/gold/white/black stripe sequence and black facemasks;

1990-1994: black helmets with black facemasks and script "Miners" logo in gold (logo said to be similar to the 1995-1998 logo).

I would greatly appreciate photographs of any of these helmet designs, in addition to the undescribed 1960, 1961, and 1966 helmets for this team.

The dates listed here are quite uncertain, and I think this may be one of those teams that either uses helmet decals irregularly, or sometimes wears them on only one side of the helmet. Clarification of the recent history would be appreciated. The helmet logo that was absent during at least some games in 2004 was back again by at least the 2005 game against McKendree.

The Quincy football team has existed only since 1986, so a complete helmet history for the team could probably be ascertained quite easily by someone at the university.
