Comments

Eastern Oregon has a new helmet design in 2009 (shown above); this is the only one yet reported for the teams in this conference.

I believe that the current helmet design has been in use since at least 2000.

MONTANA-WESTERN

? - 1999? 2000 only? 2002 -

In 2001, Montana-Western used red helmets with a logo consisting of a white cartoon bulldog, which was very similar to the one used by Samford University at one time (the Samford helmet is shown on the Southern Conference page at this site). I would appreciate a CLEAR photograph of Montana-Western's 2001 helmet from someone.

The 1988-1992 helmet has been described as having a large white "W" logo similar to the one used in the middle of the "DAWGS" logo on the current helmet, and the 1993 helmet featured a black stripe and black numerals (I would assume red helmet shells on both these designs, facemask colors were not specified).

ROCKY MOUNTAIN

c.1970s c.1990 1995 - 1998
1999 - 2000 2001 - 2003 2004 -

Another historical helmet design for Rocky Mountain featured a "bear head" decal, apparently similar to the one serving as the "O" in "ROCKY" on the "c.1990" helmet shown above, but larger; the decal was supposedly gold or yellow in color, and was worn on dark green or black helmet shells. This design was reportedly used during the late 1980s or early 1990s; I would appreciate any photographs of this design.
