The first Charleston Southern varsity football team played in 1991. The above are all of the "known" helmet designs used by the team with the exception of those used in the mid-1990s. In 1994 and 1995 the team used what were apparently navy blue helmets with a "CSU" logo on the sides (see photo below). The color of the logo is unknown but it was probably white or gold; the color of the three stripes on the helmet is also unknown. The 1996 - 1997 design was apparently identical but lacked the stripes.

2003 was the first year of play for the Coastal Carolina team.
*1 During CCU's 2011 home game against VMI several changes were made to the team's helmets; the following paragraph describing those changes appeared at the team's web site: "The Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics will continue two traditions this weekend: honoring our heroes - those who have and/or continue to serve our country, state and community - and participating in National Breast Cancer Awareness month. The football team will don camouflage Chanticleer logos and have camouflage in the center stripes - in honor of the military. The Chanticleer decals will have a pink outline and a pink ribbon will be placed on the back of the helmet - in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The camouflage decals were designed by current Coastal Carolina student, athletics marketing student assistant and The Chanticleer art director Ryan Cirignano, who spent four years in the U.S. Navy where he was an operations specialist, third class."
*2 Helmet stripes were not used during CCU's first game of the 2009 season (September 3rd at Kent State) but they were in place during the second game (September 12 vs Monmouth (NJ)).

This team has a very large and interesting set of historical helmets in addition to the ones shown here, but I have received a great deal of conflicting information about when each design was in use, and very few of the helmet logos, which I will of course need in order to add these helmets to the web site.
The KSU team played its first season of football in 2015.

In 2015 Liberty used four of the above helmet designs in the following sequence: C-C-D; A-D-D; A-C-E; D-D.
In 2014 four of the above designs were used in the following sequence: C-A-A; C-A-D; D-A-D; E-D-D; D-A (the last two games being FCS playoff games at James Madison and at Villanova).
In 2013 three designs were used in the following sequence: A-B-A; A-A-B; B-C-C; B-C-B.
This university's first football team played in 1973, but at that time the school's name was Lynchburg Baptist College and the school colors were gold and green. In 1976, the name was changed to Liberty Baptist College and blue, red, and white were adopted as the school colors. The team was affiliated with both the NAIA and NCAA for a few years before switching solely to NCAA Division II in 1983. The school was renamed Liberty University in 1985 and, in November of that year, its campus endured a devastating flood which washed away the football team's practice facility, leading to the cancellation of its late-season schedule. A move to NCAA Division I-AA was made in 1988.
The team has apparently had many other helmet designs through the years. I have partial information for a few other helmet designs used by Liberty in the past; photographs of these would be greatly appreciated: *1 The stripe sequence on this helmet went (from left to right) blue-white-red. *2 Worn during the 2010 home game against Stony Brook. *3 First worn August 29, 2013 (at Kent State). *4 First worn September 7, 2013 (vs Monmouth). *5 First worn October 26, 2013 (at Gardner-Webb). *6 First worn October 4, 2014 (vs Richmond). *7 Worn November 8, 2014 (vs Monmouth). MONMOUTH Monmouth's football team first played in 1993, and these are apparently the only helmet designs ever used by the team. PRESBYTERIAN An earlier helmet design (c.early-mid 1990s) has been described as featuring a blue "P" that was a "lot thicker" than the letters on the current helmet. I have never received any information about earlier helmet designs used by this team.
