Anyone
who believes this Missouri team
isn't capable of winning the
SEC East hasn't been paying
attention the past two years
when these same Tigers pulled
of this surprising dual feat.
The man who has had his hand
in both title runs is quarterback
Maty Mauk, the former two-time
Gatorade Ohio Player of the
Year out of high school. He's
back again as are four of five
of his offensive linemen. There
are certainly some holes that
will need filling but it looks
like the SEC East race is shaping
up to be a Georgia/Mizzou battle,
at least heading into August
camp. All-American defensive
end Shane Ray posted huge numbers
in 2014 but bolted early for
the NFL. Then the defensive
line took a huge hit when leader
Harold Brantley was lost for
the season due to injuries from
a car wreck. This front line
is the big question mark. The
difficulty in moving these Tigers
to the top of the rankings has
been their inability to compete
with the SEC big boys in that
same title match. But never
count this team out. Gary Pinkel
might be the most underrated
coach in all of college football.
