| Heading
into next season, there is certainly
a large amount of top quality
teams that return the jest of
their players but lose the all-important
man behind center. Arizona State
is not exempt from this list.
The rest of the depth chart is
full of returning upper classmen.
This past season ASU's senior
class possessed 11 members - a
tally that ranks tied for the
second fewest total among all
Division I institutions. Yet the
Sun Devils were still just one
game short of winning the Pac
12 South, losing to Arizona in
the season finale. Kelly's replacement
Bercovici might not have the same
scrambling ability, but he's shown
he possess a stronger arm and
has proved he can deliver on a
big stage. Former RB D.J. Foster
has shifted over to receiver with
the departure of Jaelen Strong
for the NFL. ASU is also without
Cameron Smith, who will miss the
season with a knee injury. There
is plenty of talent and most important,
depth on the defensive side. There
won't be a drop off after two
straight 10-win seasons. |
