In playoff speak, Oregon is a large Duck in a small pond. Even if Heisman winner Marcus Mariota decides to bolt early for the NFL, this 2015 team will be the favorite to win the Pac 12 and represent the west coast spot in Year Two of this newly formed playoff system. If Mariota does come back, in all likelihood the Ducks will be the preseason No. 1 team by most prognosticators. Receivers, tight ends, running backs...they're all expected back. And that's quite a statement considering the reputation Oregon has built offensively with less talent than what is currently available. The defense is getting better each year. However, if there is one area of concern it would be in the secondary where three full-timers will depart. Eugene has become an upper echelon staple now. From Bellotti to Kelly to Helfrich, the coaching baton as been passed and polished. Get used to seeing a different uniform every week with the same ole competitive/high scoring team wearing it.
