Offensive
Line / Defensive
Line |
\Stanford
is now becoming
a staple
in most
Top Ten
polls primarily
due in part
to a formula
that the
SEC kings
have been
using for
years...being
strong up
front. Recruiting
offensive
linemen
has become
a priority
and the
results/NFL
rosters
do all the
talking.
This was
also the
nation's
No. 3 ranked
run defense
in 2012.
Anderson
and Gardner
provide
a pair of
returning
All-Conference
bookends.

Running
Back |
When
running
with the
football
is a priority
it's hard
to dismiss
the worth
of departed
four year
running
back stalwart
Stepfan
Taylor who
is also
the school's
all-time
leading
rusher.
QB Kevin
Hogan is
the team's
returning
leading
rusher despite
only starting
in four
games. |

DEPTH CHARTS were
only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players
that departed and players
that received the most
playing experience (consistent
starters). NationalChamps.net
recognizes the importance
of missing personnel data
not listed such as redshirts,
transfers, injuries, incoming
recruits, back ups and
alternates. Their coverage
will begin with our full
2013 Preseason Preview
due out this coming spring.

QUICK
TAKES |
12/18/12
- There
is not a better set
of tight ends in the
country. Seniors Zach
Ertz and Levine Toilolo
are heads above everyone
else, period. Both
are NFL ready.
- Stanford's
identity is the power
running game. The
options at ball carrier
will be big 6'1 senior
Anthony Wilkerson
- a former Orange
County Register's
Running Back of the
Decade out of high
school, top Indiana
recruit Remound Wright
or Ricky Seale who
holds the all-time
CIF-San Diego Section
career high school
rushing record with
6,694 yards.
- The
last two coaching
staffs have been masters
at recruiting offensive
linemen. Last year
a multitude of four
and five star blockers
signed to play for
Stanford. These coaches
understand the basics
of what wins championships.
This is the main reason
Stanford has a shot
at all the marbles
in 2013.
- Young
quarterback Kevin
Hogan really came
up big down the stretch
of 2012. His versatility
and mobility give
the Cardinal dimensions
it did not have without
him. He can run the
option effectively,
and he can roll out
to either side and
throw accurately.
- Stanford
desperately needs
a deep threat throwing
the ball. Hogan is
a short passer and
defenses will be geared
to stuff the box.
- The
Cardinal will continue
to be outstanding
against the run holding
players like Oregon's
Barner and UCLA's
Franklin to 66 and
65 yards respectively
during their 2012
regular season encounters.
- Ho
Ho Ho. Stanford led
the nation in sacks.
Five of the top six
pass rushers responsible
for producing those
numbers are all back
including the Big
Ho's Gardner, Anderson
and Murphy.
- The
pass defense continues
to be a sore spot.
However this secondary
with six returning
starters in their
base nickel package
are more talented
and faster than in
the past. Ed Reynolds
is a difference maker
returning three of
his six interceptions
for touchdowns this
past season.
