Quarterback
/ Receiver |
To
run this
innovative
Chip Kelly
offensive
attack the
quarterback
must be
qualified
to make
quick decisions
to match
his quick
feet. Marcus
Mariota
might be
the best
man ever
to fill
this spot
in the Kelly-Eugene
era. Watch
out for
this offense
next season!
Upwards
of 10 receivers
that caught
passes are
back in
the fold.
In fact
every receiver
is back.

Defensive
Front |
The
Ducks have
made great
progress
being aggressive
and sturdy
with their
defensive
front seven.
But 2013
will be
a reloading
effort to
a large
degree.
The defensive
front lost
three All-Conference
selections
in Jordan,
Alonso and
Clay. |

DEPTH CHARTS were
only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players
that departed and players
that received the most
playing experience (consistent
starters). NationalChamps.net
recognizes the importance
of missing personnel data
not listed such as redshirts,
transfers, injuries, incoming
recruits, back ups and
alternates. Their coverage
will begin with our full
2013 Preseason Preview
due out this coming spring.

QUICK
TAKES |
12/18/12
- The
Ducks averaged 323
yards per game on
the ground (3rd nationally)
in 2012. All eyes
will be on the running
back spot to see if
De'Anthony Thomas
can go as a fulltime
replacement for the
departed All-American
Kenjon Barner. Thomas
for certain has the
skills both at carrying
the pigskin and catching
it. He leads the team
with 41 catches. He
will have to more
carrying it now unless
others step up.
- With
eight starters back,
the nation's fourth
ranked offense will
be better in 2013.
This is a nightmare
scenario for opposing
defensive coordinators.
- Not
many people realized
that freshman quarterback
Marcus Mariota set
the Pac 12 record
for touchdown passes
in a season with 30
because the Ducks
do most of their damage
via the ground game.
This type of balance
and experience makes
the Ducks a favorite
to run the table.
- The
Duck's secondary has
suffered through a
rash of injuries including
the safety spot where
All-American John
Boyett and his backup
Avery Patterson were
lost for the year
with knee injuries.
Despite this Oregon
lead the nation with
24 interceptions.
Injuries aside, this
unit has a chance
to be special once
again led by dominating
pass defender Ekpre-Olomu.
- Help
wanted - will a quality
kicker and punter
report for duty this
spring? Or just keep
scoring touchdowns.
