Offensive
Backfield / Defensive
Backfield |
McCarron
will be
a front
runner for
the Heisman
Trophy.
Don't be
surprised
if running
backs Lacy
and Yeldon
dot the
same list.
This will
be an extremely
efficient
offense
per usual
with the
same run-first
approach.
Barring
NFL departures,
Alabama
returns
every single
starter
outside
of Robert
Lester from
the defensive
back seven.
Yikes! |

Notice
this category
is labeled
as a QUESTION,
not a WEAKNESS.
Everyone
under the
SEC sun
knows Alabama
is always
strong up
front, However,
these are
really the
only two
units that
have a few
holes to
fill. |

DEPTH CHARTS were
only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players
that departed and players
that received the most
playing experience (consistent
starters). NationalChamps.net
recognizes the importance
of missing personnel data
not listed such as redshirts,
transfers, injuries, incoming
recruits, back ups and
alternates. Their coverage
will begin with our full
2013 Preseason Preview
due out this coming spring.

QUICK
TAKES |
12/18/12
- If
defense and running
with the ball continues
to win championships
not much changes in
Tuscaloosa.
- Alabama
readies for their
third BCS Championship
Game in four years.
Make that their fourth
in five years if the
2013 season odds hold
any water.
- Quarterback
AJ McCarron has already
placed his name in
the Hall of Legendary
Tide signal-callers
after having tossed
game-winning touchdowns
to close the late
season schedule versus
LSU and Georgia. McCarron
could easily go down
as the greatest QB
to ever play football
at Bama.
- The
three best linebackers
in the country hail
from the SEC...Minter,
Jones and Mosley.
And Mosley may be
the best of those
three in space. All
three could wind up
on a NFL roster next
fall.
- The
Tide has two 1,000-yard
rushers returning
in Lacy and Yeldon.
Not only that but
both have completely
different styles that
can move the football
pounding it with power
or out-running defenders
with speed and finesse.
- The
offensive line will
go through a reloading
phase. This offensive
backfield however
will help make the
"Big Uglies"
look just as pretty.
- Young
receiver Amario Cooper
will end up rewriting
a few school records
before his college
time is done. He has
exceptional playmakers
at his side in Jones
and Norwood plus a
hopefully healed cast
off the injury list.
- The
front seven features
few real stars other
than Mosley, but doesn't
have a weak link either.
Alabama is capable
of getting pressure
up front from multiple
players as five returnees
have recorded multiple
sacks.
