The
Rodgers brothers
(TB Jacquizz and
WR James) are two
of the premier players
at their position
on a national level.
Their numbers get
called again and
again, and still
no one can stop
them. |
|
|
Quarterback
/ Secondary |
Gone
is All-Pac Ten First
Team QB Ryan Canfield.
The battle to replace
him should be a
good one. If the
Beavers have a major
problem, it has
been slowing down
opposing aerial
assaults. The DB
experience is here,
but can the talent
and effort find
consistency? |

DEPTH CHARTS were only designed
as a simplistic gauge for listing
players that departed and players
that received the most playing
experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes
the importance of missing personnel
data not listed such as redshirts,
transfers, injuries, incoming
recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with
our full 2010 Preseason Preview
due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS |
12/8/09
Only one variable stands between
the Beavers and another shot
at playing in the Rose Bowl:
Who takes over at the QB position
now that All-Pac Ten First Team
QB Ryan Canfield has moved on?
California prep star Ryan Katz
will battle Virginia-transfer
Peter Lalich. Lyle Moevao, the
former starting QB before a
shoulder injury, could be in
the mix if the NCAA grants him
a sixth year (medical hardship).
Needless to say, this competition
should dominate the spring/summer
football discussions in Corvallis.
The elevated expectations will
remain since the rest of the
depth chart retains most of
its parts. That includes legit
Heisman Candidate RB Jacquizz
Rodgers and his brother WR James
Rodgers. These siblings define
the definition of "go to”
guys. The defense will be blessed
with plenty of experience, but
there is still defensive work
to be done. Especially when
it comes to covering receivers
and getting to the quarterback.
Simply put, the sack numbers
and pass defense both have to
improve for Oregon State to
win the Pac Ten. The disappointment
of losing their first shot at
going the Rose Bowl in 45 years
to in-state rival Oregon can
quickly be overcome with a bowl
victory in Las Vegas over a
legitimate BYU team, which ultimately
sets this team up again as a
jilted, eager bridesmaid for
2010.
