QUICK ANALYSIS

Has any team been more decimated by injury than FSU the past two years? Not likely. This past season, the injury bug struck almost every single position on the defense. So many athletes received significant playing time; filling out the depth chart on this side of the ball became difficult. Offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden has resigned and FSU will return a slew of highly touted prep players. Bobby Bowden still knows how to recruit, as high marks from the people deciphering this process will attest. However, FSU falls short simply because they have ignored the plight of the OL. The rushing attack has amassed an anemic national ranking of 109th and 103rd in '05 and '06, respectively. FSU cannot run, the offense gets one-dimensional and defenses are left having little difficulty stopping the Noles. This trend should (hopefully) reverse with a new offensive director, but until then, Florida State’s preseason placement will mirror what they have averaged since 2001...a four to five loss program. After a 6-6 record this past season while looking beatable by just about everyone (barely squeaked by Western Michigan 28-20 and Troy 24-17), the Seminoles will have to play their way back into a Top 25 ranking.
