Quarterback/Linebacker |
Soon-to-be
senior Matt Ryan was/is the
best QB in the ACC. Three other
seniors fill the depth chart
at LB. Brian Toal and Jolonn
Dunbar are two of the most underrated
LBs in the ACC. |

|
Defensive
Back |
Although
BC ranked next to last in ACC
pass defense, this group will
be much improved led by All-ACC
corner DeJuan Tribble. Not too
many major concerns exist for
this team in ‘07. |

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players
that received the most playing experience (consistent
starters). NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance
of missing personnel data not listed such as redshirts,
transfers, injuries, incoming recruits, back ups
and alternates. Their coverage will begin with our
full 2007 Preseason Preview due out this coming
spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS |
When
looking for a weak spot on this 2007 Boston
College team, none seem to exist. Every
unit has a vast array of key returning personnel.
The secondary may have some issues in terms
of underachievement, ranking only ahead
of Duke in conference passing defense. But
guys like DeJuan Tribble and Jamie Silva
back in the line up make this an area certain
to improve by leaps and bounds. The LB crew
(all seniors) represents some of the finest
the ACC has to offer. The entire defense
has experience and depth at every position.
Offensively, QB Matt Ryan proved to be the
top passer in a conference lacking a big
time QB. While he won't earn any preseason
All-American recognition (nor will any ACC
QB), he is just good enough to propel this
team into the front of the ACC Atlantic
pack with Wake Forest. This will be the
fourth season in a row both RBs (Whitworth
and Callender) are due to share duties with
great success. BC still lacks a big time
receiver, an issue, though, that has never
detracted this offense from success since
joining the league. This offense is just
good enough to make up the difference with
efficiency and balance. The OL has taken
great pride with a tradition of large sized
blockers. While this group will continue
to be a positive, the loss of Josh Beekman
and James Marten (both All-ACC selections)
cannot be overlooked. A 9-3 finish in 2006
should be considered a decent year by school
standards. However, the Eagles can set their
sights much higher as a new season rolls
around. This means anything less than getting
to the ACC Championship Game should not
be an option. This team is stacked with
experience.
