BEST
PLAYER: FB Brian Leonard
TOP
NEWCOMER: WR Tiquan Underwood
STRENGTH:
FB Brian Leonard and TB Ray Rice give Rutgers
the thunder and lightning rushing attack; Future
NFL TE Clark Harris returned for his senior year
and is a pass catching machine; Big OTs Pedro
Sosa and Jeremy Zuttah help to form a powerful
offensive line.
CONCERN:
QB Mike Teel has to learn not to force throws
in impossible situations, better decision making
(2 TD/10 INT), both QBs could see action; Four
freshman will enter into the WR mix, special teams
extraordinaire Willie Foster has to turn into
a consistent pass catcher as well; Must replace
both starting guards, the departed John Glass
was the cornerstone of the OL in 2005 and depth
is not super plentiful.

DEFENSE |
BEST
PLAYER: Devraun Thompson
TOP
NEWCOMER: DE Jamaal Westerman
STRENGTH:
Both DTs Meekins and Foster have a huge upside,
but must stay healthy after sitting out the spring;
The DBs are experienced and deep this time around,
their numbers should improve after finishing dead
last in Big East pass defense while intercepting
just six passes.
CONCERN:
DEs Ryan Neill and Val Barnaby helped Rutgers
lead the nation in sacks (47) a year ago, both
are gone; Two seniors anchor the LB unit, otherwise
this is a very young group as seven LBs enter
from the '06 recruiting class.

SPECIAL TEAMS |
KICKER
Jeremy Ito may be one of the top ten kickers in the
country. He is accurate and has a strong leg. His 2005
resume includes a 20-of-27 FG performance while making
8-of-12 from 40 yards and beyond. He will also handle
kickoff duties.
PUNTER
Joe Radigan has a bomb for a leg and possesses the ability
to be one of the Big East's best. Consistency has hampered
him however. With such a strong leg, he needs to work
on hang time.
