2006 OFFENSE

BEST PLAYER: RB Rafael Little

TOP NEWCOMER: OT Garry Williams

STRENGTH: Depth at TB led by All-SEC rusher and shooting star Rafael Little; TE Jacob Tamme is a former receiver and the offense seems more productive when he is on the field; Finally the OL has some depth with five starters returning, center Matt McCutchan was granted a sixth year of eligibility.

CONCERN: The mobility of QB Andre Woodson (strong arm) and the passing ability of his backup Curtis Pulley (more mobile) could cause a controversy if the starter struggles, 36 sacks and crucial fumbles hurt Woodson in '05; The health of WR Keenan Burton, the only experienced veteran of the group.

2006 DEFENSE

BEST PLAYER: LB Wesley Woodyard

TOP NEWCOMER: DT Myron Pryor

STRENGTH: With the emergence of Myron Pryor, the DT position will surprise some opponents; Led by All-SEC star Wesley Woodyard, the LBs will be much improved and should start to look like a true set of LBs as opposed to what coaches have been dealt since Rich Brooks arrived.

CONCERN: The unexpected loss of CB Bo Smith, voted the top defensive player, is devastating for a team trying to keep up with SEC speed, the secondary gets revamped; As a whole, one of the worst defenses in the SEC in terms of stopping the run and pass.

2006 SPECIAL TEAMS

KICKER
Underrated four-year starter Taylor Begley will be missed. Brian Scott came away as the starter after spring while holding off J.J. Housley. Scott is a transfer from I-AA Davidson and maintains the most experience.

PUNTER
As a true freshman, Tim Masthay was thrown into the fire. A top athlete in high school, he led the state of Kentucky in receiving his senior year. He was wildly inconsistent as a punter last season while finishing with a meager 36.4-yard average.
