Purdue
finished second in Big Ten rushing
defense. Every single starter returns
on the defensive side of the ball.
Being strong up front in this conference
can go a long way. Purdue has it.

is record setting passer Kyle Orton.
Brandon Kirsch saw playing time with
Orton injured. But Purdue succeeded
in 2004 with Orton's arm. How well
he gets replaced will be the key.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Welcome,
Brandon Kirsch, to the show that never ends. Record
setting QB Kyle Orton is Purdue history. For those
believing the (coach) Tiller one-back offensive
set will attempt to run over opponents with a
Jerod Void ground game as opposed to 50+ aerial
attempts, we have a plot of oceanfront property
in Indiana to sell you. Kirsch saw duty late this
season when Orton went down. His grades weren't
stellar by any means, but he did manage to equal
Orton's 62% completion rate. The receivers are
still readily available, despite Big Ten record-setter
Taylor Stubblefield's absence. Big Ten, meet Kyle
Ingraham. Hey wait, most of this talk should revolve
to the other side of the ball, where every single
starter returns from a bunch that still managed
to finish at the top half of the Big Ten pack
in most all defensive categories despite the many
new faces. Between DEs Spencer, Edwards and Ninkovich,
the trio surmounted a whopping 22.5 sacks. The
Boilermakers are next in line for Big Ten rights
behind Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa. This team
should improve on its current .500 conference
record.
