The
young Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn
Jr. lining up together at receiver
is quite impressive. The Buckeyes
have the best set of LBs nationwide,
including Hawk, the leading Butkus
Candidate for 2005.

The
running game has stalled since Coach
Tressel took over. To add on...the
departures of Joe, Hall and Ross leave
an empty cupboard in terms of depth
and experience.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Had
it not been for a four-loss '04 campaign, the
Buckeyes have enough returning talent to merit
a top five ranking. Ted Ginn Jr. and Santonio
Holmes are two of the most explosive young skill
players anywhere. Their set of LBs represents
a solid mix of talent not likely to be found on
any campus for a long time. QB Troy Smith may
have secured the starting role with his play down
the stretch. He's mobile and a perfect fit for
a wide-open offense that keeps opponents guessing
for all 60 minutes. The question is - can Coach
Tressel utilize this type of game plan? The conservative
approach of playing defense, using a great punter,
and preventing the QB from "not losing"
doesn't make sense with all of this offensive
firepower. If what we saw in the Michigan game
can hold true, it's another Ohio State/Michigan
finale for the Big Ten title.
