and Booker are still hanging around
to give FSU the 1-2 punch at TB. The
starting trio of LBs are one of the

The
OL has underachieved for years. Now
they must attempt to get better with
practically all new starters. Chris
Rix is gone at QB. Can Sexton hold
out the heralded freshman? The QB
answers have not been established.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Say
what? Florida State is not in a Top 10 preseason
poll? Since the 2000 season, the average final
AP ranking for the Seminoles is #16, not the same
quality they displayed in years prior as they
finished in the top five for over a decade straight.
For once, they will start around here and be forced
to work their way up as opposed to vice versa.
We warned everyone last year that FSU had the
most seniors of any team across America, and they
then disappointed. Logically now, FSU will be
operating with the least amount of returning personnel
out of anyone in our Top 25. Unless offensive
coaching changes are made, how can one expect
a better product? Only two offensive linemen are
back, assuming David Castillo is granted a sixth
year of eligibility. That's grasping for straws
for an OL that has continued to underachieve for
years with far more depth and talent. Can the
QB ineptitude be resolved with a freshman, or
a much-improved Sexton? The RB position is stacked,
yet FSU continues to throw passes most every down,
claiming opponents are loading the box. The strength
will once again need to come from the defense,
where - outside of Columbus, OH - the Noles will
maintain the nation's best set of LBs. FSU needs
FS Pat Watkins to choose school over the NFL or
the questions here will begin to formulate. Many
prognosticators are left dumbfounded as to why
this stacked offense has spun out of control,
but we know and see what is on the horizon for
'05. Bobby Bowden has some very serious loyalty
decisions to make over the next few months in
terms of his staff. Have the last four years forced
an adjustment in the goals of Florida State football?
Not even the new ACC Atlantic Division title is
a lock in 2005.
