The
Broncos have the nation's No. 3 ranked
rushing defense (Nov. 29). The people
responsible for such a ranking will
return to Boise for another campaign.

Losing
players such as Gabe Franklin and
Deshan Cabaong (6 int's between the
two) will require another reloading
task by Coach Hawkins for the pass
happy WAC. The cupboard is not totally
empty.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
The
mid-major, non-BCSers - or whatever they care
to be referred to - stepped up in multitudes this
past season. When breaking down the past several
years of success with these types of teams, the
Broncos have been the most consistent (nation's
longest winning streak). Never mind how much they
continue to lose in terms of personnel each passing
campaign. Folks should know by now Coach Dan Hawkins
system is unparalleled. Can you imagine? Boise
State had just nine starters returning in 2004,
and only three on what became the nation's No.2
total and scoring offense. Well, he will have
that much more to work with this time around.
New QB Jared Zabransky is another plug in this
offensive juggernaut. OT Daryn College from the
North Pole (Alaska, that is, his real home town)
doesn't receive enough recognition, as don't most
players who sign to play in the blue-turfed land
of spuds. When you think Boise State, you think
offense, lots of points, blue turf (the whole
state of Idaho actually has blue-colored grass
growing wildly). But it has been the defense excelling
as well in 2004, especially with the front seven,
and five of them are back. Also surprising has
been the development of a genuine running game,
a ground attack that actually ranked higher than
the passing game. When you combine the nations
No. 3 run defense, with the nation's #2 total
offense, you just may find that BCS bowl yet.
Hang in there Boise; you're at the front of the
line this time around. Just secure that secondary.
