QUICK ANALYSIS

Tennessee had some pretty big 2003 aims but couldn't seem to tame the Tigers or derail the 'Dawgs. They didn't have injuries to blame, and had a slightly disappointing SEC campaign for Vol fans hungry for a championship again (but then, who isn't??). The Big Orange bring back 12 starters, and at least two starters in each defensive unit with experience. The Vols do lose their starting QB of four years, Casey Clausen. But wait, weren't they faced with the same situation in 1998?? Yeah, and how did the Vols end up finishing that season? Losing Clausen may be a mixed blessing - he never took them to any next levels, and he led the 73rd ranked offense, so…His replacement, yet to be named, will assuredly need adjustment time, and the team's eventual resurgence needs to be early, with all important SEC opponents poised for August and September. Second-half tilts with Notre Dame and (at)USC make this team one who will earn any stripes received.
