QUICK ANALYSIS

Oklahoma has played near flawless football this year. Even seems scary (and perhaps unfair) that the Sooners look to return 16 starters as well as two solid kickers. If success starts up front, both offense and defense will surely be a stable for victories, as every single starter on the line returns. Offensively, Mark Clayton turned out to be the best receiver in the Big 12. Combined with the running skills of Kejuan Jones in the backfield, the Sooners ability to score points will be another repetitive likelihood. The big concern will be locating a body to spell Teddy Lehman and his long list of individual awards at LB. OU will also be waiting to find out whether two of their stars, Heisman-running QB Jason White and LB Lance Mitchell, will gravitate toward NFL dollars or stay for added seasons (upon petitioning the NCAA for medical redshirts). With the departures of NFL talented DBs Strait and Everage, look for Antonio Perkins to assume the role of leader in the OU defensive backfield. His punt return capabilities will now be just a part of his resume. You can expect possibly two to three players bolting early for the pro ranks. But depth is so beneficial in Norman, where Bob Stoops' recruiting classes have hauled in serious prime-time talent. Folks, we are witnessing the rebirth of the OU dynasty. But if others, like KSU (who they play again in October), can land a shot on the chin of this giant, OU may again prove to be human after all.
