QUICK ANALYSIS

The Bulldogs proved critics wrong in saying that they were a one-year wonder. Mark Richt certainly knows how to utilize his talent down in Athens, and boy, will he be swarmed with it in '04 - Georgia returns 10 starters on offense and 8 on defense. QB David Greene should be on nearly everyone's Heisman list, as he has already stated he will return for his senior campaign. Now senior WR Fred Gibson will have have his chance to prove doubters wrong after his 2003 season was filled with injuries. LB Odell Thurman and safety Sean Jones will draw some All-American hype. Everyone will be waiting to see what two-year All-American DE David Pollack will decide concerning his early pro future. If he returns, oh man! But the weakest 2003 link, the offensive line (3.6 per rush and allowed 36 sacks), will be the most improved area as tough lessons learned are turned into strengths. Back-to-back home tilts versus LSU and Tennessee in early October will tell much. This year's second ranked scoring defense only has to change allowing over 40% of opponents' points (54 of 125, so far) from being scored in the fourth, and increase their meager sack total of 18. But letting only four rushing TDs makes their front-seven that much more feared for '04. Inexperience at both CB spots will prove to be a test for the Dawg secondary. These few areas, if improved, should afford lofty expectations from the Dawg faithful.
