We've constantly wondered what is missing from the many unit rankings seen within various publications. So, this year we have done something different. First, we decided to compliment our Top 5 with a few new categories. Our "Just Missed" category is for those who normally don't get recognized due to a lesser role. Also added is a "Could be there" group - for those units who aren't at an elite level yet but like many teams and players, could improve considerably through the season.

Also featured in this year's unit rankings will be a "WHY" statement. Too often we read rankings but yet never find out just what is in the publication's "mind" when it says this or that. Quite obviously, we wonder why it is that one particular unit is better than the other. Well, with the WHY statement I hope to provide answers in the form of questions one may have, and just in case I haven't been clear, I leave my e-mail address open to anyone who may wonder why I feel the way I do when I carefully rank each particular unit. - Ricky Sixx
