QUICK ANALYSIS

November 28, 2003 - Most Irish fans won't consider the "Return To Glory" complete until Notre Dame can bring home a National Championship ring. Since the Irish don't play in a conference, what other title is there? Tyrone Willingham will start to feel that need. He has already put the ship in the right direction. He has way more than enough returning personnel to make a big move. Every single unit has experience under Tyrone's one-year successful campaign. The key will be to get the offense moving. That task may not be so difficult with Holiday and Grant manning the skill positions on offense. As for the defense, keeping the status quo will do wonders. Watch for LB Courtney Watson to prove a leading candidate for the Butkus Award. One problem does exist in South Bend -- the Irish just refuse to back down from their competitive scheduling habits. It's a tough schedule once again to put it mildly. So the odds don't point to getting that ring just yet, but with a bit o' luck of the Irish, the Sugar in New Orleans isn't that far of a reach.
