QUICK ANALYSIS

November 28, 2003 - This team really should be considered king of the hill until somebody can knock them off their 30-plus winning streak. Sources tell us that some big name underclassmen are about to jump ship for the NFL, leaving a scenario much like the Florida Gators had last fall. They came in at #1 and fell hard when the kids started leaving. But the bottom line is that a new, inexperienced QB will be at the helm, and the entire DL will be dismantled from starters to backups. Any other team, and they would have fallen way short of our Top 5. This is Miami and as we said last preseason, outside of maybe Hugh Hefner, nobody replaces talent as well. The defensive backfield's youth was a major concern heading into 2002. Hard to believe this group will finish as one of the tops in the country statistically, and they are all back. Rank em one, two, or three...it doesn't matter; the Hurricanes are not going away anytime soon.
