QUICK ANALYSIS

November 28, 2003 - The Terrapins are primed for possibly their best run since Coach Ralph Friedgen arrived, at least on paper. In 2002, this team got better each week, which is a sure-tale sign of good coaching. Combine that with how much talent this staff has developing, and the results should prove another Top 25 finish and subsequent BCS bowl run. The improvement of Scott McBrien at QB was remarkable and it is his job to keep for now. Senior TB Bruce Perry hopefully shakes off his injury bug and pays large dividends. Keep a close eye on the speedster Steve Suter at receiver and P/K return man. He is special. The defense really has been making life difficult for opposing teams and 2003 should be no different. The playmaker in the middle, E.J. Henderson, finally departs so we will see what his worth really was. But the big positive for the Terrapins seems to be the development of the secondary, which killed this squad in the past. With their schedule being so weak, it would not be surprising to see these Terps hit a Top 10 spot at some point. That situation just never bodes well once stiffer competition comes their way. Approximately 16 returning starters have the fans inside the beltway looking forward to another great season under Ralph Friedgen.
